Born and raised in Switzerland, I have been living in Santa Barbara, California since 1997 where I completed an interior design program in 2003. After attending jewelry classes at the Santa Barbara Continuing Education Program, I found my passion for working with precious metals and, applying my design background, I have been designing and crafting jewelry ever since. Since 2006 I am working as a full-time designing jeweler in Santa Barbara, CA.
claudiaA. designs are inspired by architecture, geometrical shapes and unusual color and material combinations. My goal is to create minimal, timeless pieces that can be worn every day and for special occasions alike.
While working primarily in sterling silver, I have incorporated gold, copper, enamel (kiln fired glass on metal), up-cycled bicycle tubing rubber and packaging plastics as well as felt into my jewelry designs. I am constantly looking for and exploring with new materials I can use as unusual accents in my sterling designs. I apply techniques used in fabrication such as soldering, forging, fusing, riveting, oxidizing, folding, weaving, folding, etc. to handcraft earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, and the occasional cuff link.
I have participated and exhibited in various local art shows and stores as well as many juried art festivals in California and across the US.
Designing and handcrafting jewelry has been a passion of mine for many years and I hope that I will have the opportunity to share some of my creations with you!
